BEDOUIN CASTLE HOTEL & SAFARI
Our Story

Where the desert
became home.

How an American archaeologist and an Egyptian guide turned a dream above the palms into Bahariya's most beloved hotel.

01 The beginning

She came to study the stars above Egypt — and never left

Dr. Erin Nell is an American archaeologist with a PhD in archaeoastronomy — the science of how ancient civilizations aligned their monuments with the cosmos. Her field research on the orientation of the Giza pyramids and desert structures brought her to Egypt's Western Desert.

But it was Bahariya Oasis that captured her heart. The silence. The warmth of the people. The ancient landscapes stretching into infinity. In 2004, she made a life-changing decision: she would stay — not as a visitor, but as someone who had finally found where she belonged.

"Some people visit the desert. Erin listened to it — and it told her to stay."

02 A shared dream

Two worlds met — and built something extraordinary

In Bahariya, Erin found a partner who shared her vision: Nader — an Egyptian from the oasis itself, with deep roots in the land and years of expertise in tourism. Together, in 2012, they built Bedouin Castle Hotel: a boutique property perched on a hilltop with views that stretch across the entire oasis and its 3 million palm trees.

But Nader brought more than construction. He brought adventure — organizing safari expeditions to the White Desert, Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Al-Gara Cave, Fayoum, Siwa, Dakhla, Kharga, and trips reaching Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, and Sharm El-Sheikh. Travelers didn't just come for a room — they came for Nader's storytelling about Bahariya's history, its ancient ruins, and the hidden corners only a local could reveal.

03 A new chapter

The sons carry the torch — with the same heart

Today, the hotel is run by Nader's sons, led by his eldest, Karim. Karim didn't learn hospitality from a textbook — he learned it on the road, riding alongside his father through the desert since childhood, helping welcome guests, and watching how a simple cup of tea could turn a stranger into family.

In 2025, the hotel underwent a full renovation — fresh rooms, modern comfort, updated spaces — but the soul remained. Bedouin Castle is still the only hotel in Bahariya Oasis with an uninterrupted panoramic view over the entire oasis. And it's still the kind of place where you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

"The view hasn't changed. The welcome hasn't changed. Only the comfort got better."
